Certified Personal Trainer
Become a Certified Personal Trainer in this comprehensive program offered through World Instructor Training Schools (WITS) at College of DuPage.
Whether for a career move or for personal knowledge, get the information and training you need to become a certified personal trainer. This comprehensive course is for candidates wanting in-depth instruction and hands-on experience to master the career skills and knowledge to become a successful trainer.
Upcoming Hybrid Course - Summer 2018
Key topics include biomechanics, exercise physiology, fitness testing, equipment usage and health assessment. The emphasis is on teaching both theoretical information and practical skills to apply in real-world settings. A textbook is required.

Hands-on at local health club
Thursday, June 7 to July 22
6:30 to 9:30 p.m. (no class July 4)
Level 1 Certification is awarded after passing both written and practical exams and obtaining a current adult CPR/AED.
Level 2 Certification is awarded after successfully completing your Level 1 exams and finishing the 30 hour internship. Students will be given a list of participating sites to complete internship. Alternate locations may be approved through WITS. There is no additional cost for this valuable internship experience.
A complete, 200-page student workbook is included in the course. The required textbook, Fitness Professional's Handbook 7th Edition Author: Howley, must be purchased by the student. An e-book format available.

Jimmy Slater has a diverse background in health and fitness, having held positions as a personal trainer, strength and conditioning coach, and corporate wellness specialist. He has worked with a wide variety of clientele including those seeking to improve their overall health and well-being as well as those pursuing a greater level of fitness and athletic performance.
