“The professors in the Nursing program are there for you with anything you need, and the facilities are top-notch. I heard it was difficult but in a good way, because you want training that truly prepares you. The program helps you explore the many avenues of nursing, and I’m now drawn toward becoming an ER nurse because my ER clinical was amazing. The sim labs and mannequins provided us with real-life experiences so we could anticipate what we would see in the field. I have a sense of pride that I did this, and if I can do this, then anybody can.”

“Life is waiting for you and as you look for the next journey of your life, walk through the door. If you get on the other side and it’s not what you thought, pause and ask yourself, ‘What did I learn?’ There is always something to learn, and then look for the next door. This educational journey has guided me through life, with an intention to finish a bachelor’s degree in Nursing by age 40 and more recently completing a Ph.D. in Nursing, which I never thought possible.”

“The decision to attend COD was an easy one: multiple available class times make it easier to juggle life’s responsibilities, the short commute, the helpful advisors and the fact that all of my old college credits were accepted and transferred. One class led to another, which eventually led to being accepted into the Nursing program.”

“I didn't take education seriously before because it didn't come naturally to me. After my Dad died, I just wasn't ready to pursue nursing. But once I was, I knew that if I applied myself I could get the grades. And COD's Nursing program more than lived up to what I needed to succeed."

“I owe a huge thanks to the Learning Commons for my success. I have had tutoring in English, Math and Chemistry. Even when the normal tutoring hours didn’t work with my work schedule, they went above and beyond to assure someone could be there to help when I needed it.”
